S-Band Wideband Harmonic Transponder with Wide Input Power Range

This paper presents a through-type harmonic transponder for S-band nonlinear radar. To increase the operating frequency range, 2-stage L-shaped matching network was configured input and output networks. In previous studies, conventional transponders were with λ/4 stubs in networks to minimize influence of these because impedance mismatch suppresses second fundamental signals. However, this design, open stub utilized at alleviate insertion loss additional stub. For verification, proposed circuit implemented size 37.6 mm×16.1 mm. The measurement results show that conversion gain is maintained over −15 dB frequencies between 2.8~3.8 GHz −5.5 dBm −17.5~11 3.1 power.
